Evergreen Cemetery,
1005 South Hancock Ave., Colorado Springs, El Paso County, Colorado

From Margaret Haynes: It is the oldest cemetery that has been continuously operated by the city of Colorado Springs. It was established shortly after the city was founded in 1871. The Evergreen Cemetery Chapel is a historical building.

According to information obtained online, "Evergreen Cemetery is city owned and operated but not taxpayer supported. The cemetery is funded by purchases of lots and fees related to burial services. Officially started in 1875 with land donated by city founder General William Jackson Palmer. The cemetery is over 200 acres and still very active today. The old Potter's Field in the interior of Evergreen dates back to 1860."
