Illinois Cemeteries Project

Cass Cemetery,
Raymond, Montgomery County, Illinois

The first ground consecrated to the burial of the dead in Raymond Township was on the farm belonging to John Cass. The first internments were made in the 1830's. The cemetery is located south of Raymond on the Merrill Wernsing farm. There is no direct access to the site as a former township road that led to the cemetery was abandonded years ago. At least 12 soldiers are buried here including veterans of the War of 1812, the Black Hawk War, and the Civil War.

If you know of someone buried in Cass Cemetery,
or would like to volunteer to photograph and transcribe Cass Cemetery, please email me.
