William Harvey "Harve" Shafer
Was born in Pleasant Lake, Steuben
County October 01, 1857 died May 28
1914 ageed 56 years, 6 months, and 28 days
was a resident of Steuben county until he was
39 years of age.
He formerly held a position with
Chadwick, Ransburg and Co for a number of years.
He sold his property in Pleasant Lake and invested in the boot and shoe business in Ashley at the time
of the boom. In 1896 he sold his business there and
decided to make his home in Toledo, where he was employed by the Western Gas and Chandelier Co for
10 years, and was compelled to give up his position on account of his ill health four years before his death. He sold his property and invested in the grocery and confectionery business which he conducted successfully until he had to give up four weeks before his death.
He leaves to mourn, his wife, three children, and a host of friends. His motto through life was the simple one but good one. "Do unto others as you would they should do unto you". He will live in the memories of many long after his death, for there are a great many good deeds he has done which will never be forgotten.

Clytie was my Grandmother she died 1963 and Greatgradmother
Allie died 1949.
