Josephine (Edmunds) Claiborne
Mrs. Josephine Edmunds Claiborne of Poplar Creek Street, South Boston, Va. died November 15, 2008 at The Woodview at the age of 88.
Mrs. Claiborne was born in Halifax County, Va. on August 9, 1920 and was the daughter of the late Mr. Isaiah Edmunds and Mrs. Lottie E. Edmunds. She was married to the late Mr. Jesse Wilson Claiborne Sr. and was a member of Peaceful Tabernacle Baptist Church.
Survivors of Mrs. Claiborne include two sisters, Mrs. Nancy Green of Richmond Va. and Ms. Ora Edmunds of South Boston, Va.; seven stepchildren, Mr. Jesse Claiborne Jr. of San Antonio, Texas, Mrs. Mary Jackson of Nathalie, Va., Mrs. Deloris Brown of Winston-Salem, N.C., Ms. Janice Claiborne of Melbourne, Fla., Mrs. Barbara Brame of Clinton, Md., Mr. Wayne Claiborne of Newport News, Va. and Mr. Charles Claiborne of Landover, Md.; one godchild, Ms. Shirine Hankins of South Boston, Va.; one devoted nephew, Mr. Johnny Edmunds of South Boston,Va.; three step sons-in-law, Mr. Willie Jackson, Mr. Larry Brown and Mr. Randy Brame; two step-daughters-in-law, Mrs. Gwendolyn Claiborne and Mrs. Brenda Claiborne.
Funeral services for Mrs. Claiborne will be held Friday, November 21, 2008 at 2 p.m. at Peaceful Tabernacle Baptist Church with the Rev. Jackie Stamps officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Randy Brame, Stanley Court, South Boston, Va.
Funeral arrangements are by Jeffress Funeral Home, North Main Street, South Boston, Va.
