Doris Ellen Morris Gordon
Doris Ellen Morris Gordon, 86, of 1140 Link Puryear Road, South Boston, Va. died Wednesday, January 14, 2009 at The Woodview. She was born in Halifax County, Va. June 25, 1922 the daughter of the late James Anderson Morris and Mary Alice Bowes Morris and was married to the late Floyd Franklin Gordon.
Mrs. Gordon was a member of Harmony United Methodist Church where she was a former Sunday school teacher. She was a retired CNA from South Boston General Hospital.
Survivors of Mrs. Gordon include two daughters, Emma Jean Glass Gordon Humphries and husband, John of South Boston, Va. and Cindy G. Walker and husband, Tom of Appomattox, Va.; one son, Ricky Gordon and wife, Ivy of Scottsburg, Va.; nine grandchildren, Timmy Humphries, John Humphries Jr., Sharon Moneymaker, Billy Humphries, Laura Gordon, James Gordon, Andy Brandon, Josh Walker and Wayne Walker; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Four brothers and four sisters also preceded Mrs. Gordon in death.
Funeral services will be held at Harmony United Methodist Church Saturday, January 17, 2009 at 2 p.m. with the Revs. Tom Walker, Ricky Whitlow and John E. Flood officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Brooks Funeral Home Friday, January 16, 2009 from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. and other times at the home of her daughter, Emma Jean Gordon Humphries, 6118 Huell Matthews Hwy.
