Eva (Williamson) Saunders
Mrs. Eva Williamson Saunders, 82, of 339 McKinney Street, South Boston, died Friday, January 23, 2009, at Halifax Regional Hospital.
Born November 2, 1926 in Mecklenburg County, she was the daughter of the late Lucy Frazier Williamson and Samuel Scott Williamson and was married to the late Bernard “Junior” Saunders.
She was a retired waitress at Allen’s Drug Store and a member of McCanless Memorial United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Saunders is survived by one son, Jerry Nathaniel Saunders of South Boston; one grandson, Zachary Scott Saunders; and one granddaughter, Reba Gayle Saunders; two brothers, Dennis Williamson and wife Flossie, and Samuel Scott Williamson and wife Marie, both of Clarksville, and 54 nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, three brothers and one sister preceded her in death including Roy Franklin Williamson, Ray Hoover Williamson, James Kirby Williamson and Ruby W. Compton.
A funeral for Mrs. Saunders will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at Brooks Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jim Smith officiating.
Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the home, 339 McKinney Street, South Boston.
